  • If I can't find refuge in tv or radio (bless the BBC overnight service) I will imagine completely impossible, perfect scenarios, like living in a Welsh cottage with sheep and a fantastic overcoat. Or I mentally redecorate my parents' house one detail at a time (this includes major renovations, like opening the second closed fireplace and putting in moldings around the ceilings.

But mostly, I find comfort in physicality, if I can, and leave my mind well enough alone. Heh.

  • For me, it's things like long drives, or baking fancy desserts, or drawing or painting or knitting or some project that requires both my mind and body. When I do these things, I don't think about much aside from the thing that I am doing, and it's easy for my mind to stay quiet and peaceful because it's busy. If I engage my mind in a very particular way, the more unruly bits of it leave me alone, if that makes sense.
